The images above show the transformation of a scanned picture to a high resolution digital-painted artwork. This requires tracing and painting techniques using tools in Photoshop. Brush styles, paint effects and Bevel & Emboss features were used to achieve this look.

This time I will share with you the 8 steps to create a light burst effect in Photoshop.

A burst gives arresting look as it denotes extreme emotions and blaring effect. Steps are easy and do not require drawing skills since Photoshop will do the work for you.

Step 1
Create a new canvass with 500pixels x 500 pixels with Black background color.

Step 2
Make another layer and create rectangle with the use of Rectangular Marquee Tool. Set the foreground color into white and fill it by pressing Alt-DEL (Windows) or Option-DEL (Mac).

Step 3
Go to Filter> Stylize>Wind and do the settings below.


Step 4
Delete the solid white part using the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Then, press Ctrl T (Windows) or Command-T (Mac) to transform.


Step 5
Go to Image>Rotate Canvass>90 degrees CCW

Step 6
Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates. Tick on Rectangular to Polar.

Step 7
Then to Filter>Blur>Motion Blur. Do the setting shown below.

Step 8
Pick the Elliptical Marque Tool to make a circle in the middle. Select Modify>Feather then fill it.

You can also try different background colors. Experiment and have fun!

This wedding photo was taken year 1969. Their daughters came up with the idea to give their parents a framed restored wedding photo for their 39th wedding anniversary. My older sister, Divine, did the photo colorization with the help of Hue & Saturation in Photoshop, from old torn black & white photo to a new colored one. Their parents were both surprised and pleased when they got the gift. With this, it is not just about transforming the photo into a new-looking one but an appreciation of unbroken vow & remembering the great feeling of happiness of finding someone to cherish for life. n_n

This song is so astonishing and beautiful in its own soul. I don’t know but there’s something in this song that makes me amaze besides the lyrics and melody, I just can’t figure out. It is really stunning, I entirely love it! Kristin Stewart (aka Bella) undoubtedly has outstanding taste in music when she chose this song to be the on the soundtrack.

Some people believe this song is about politics and the condition of the US now but I opt to hear it than to analyze too deeply. It has full of metaphors so I guess I will just waste my time try to interpret its real meaning. Whether it is about love or politics, it really doesn’t matter; it will always be one of the best songs I have heard!

halftone effect tutorial

Now, I am going to show you the step by step guide to create halftone effects (like what I did on the poster above) in Photoshop. This element is very trendy because it mystifies and captivates your eyes if used with enough contrast.

Step 1 Create a new 500px x 500px document with a 72 dpi resolution. Set the color mode to grayscale.

Step 2 Use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to create a circle. Then, go to Select>Modify>Feather or Alt-Ctrl-D (Windows) or Option-Command-D to add feather. Use the settings shown below.

Step 3 Double click the foreground color in the toolbox to choose your desired color. Fill the circle by pressing Alt-DEL (Windows) or Option-DEL (Mac) repeatedly until you have achieved a very intense blob with blurry edges. Press Ctrl-D (Windows) or Command-D (Mac) to Deselect.

Step 4 Go to Image>Mode>Bitmap> and do the settings below.

(the lower the Frequency the bigger the dots will be)

Now your halftone effect is ready ^-^

make your own pearl in photoshop

I put pearl on the label as its name is Pearl White. With the use of Layer Styles we can make a real-looking pearl.Step 1 Create a new document with the settings below.

Step 2 Right-click on the Rectangle Tool and pick the Ellipse Tool from the menu. Hold the Shift key and use the Ellipse Tool to drag in a circle
Step 3 Press Alt-DEL (Windows) or Option-DEL to fill the circle.

Step 4 Do the layer style settings shown below

Inner GlowBevel & EmbossDouble click gloss contour and adjust the mapping

ContourAgain, double click the contour editor and adjust the mapping

Color OverlayLastly, set the Gradient Overlay.
